Managing Trustee
The School is known for its most reputed teachers like Late Shri Prahlad Parekh, a well known Gujarati poet, Late Shri Yeshwant Purohit, a music teacher , a renowned musician and Late Shri Bhanubhai Smart, an art teacher, a well known Artist. All of them having an international repute.
The contribution of most dedicated teachers, like smt. Bhanuben Merchant, Smt. Nilam Divan, Late Shri S.R. Bhatt, Shri Madanbhai Vakil, Shri G.G.Mazumdar, Smt. Ramaben, and many other in the development of the students as well as the School is still remembered by the Modernites of the yester years.
The School places on its record the contribution of the Ex-Principals who served the School with dedication and is very grateful to them for their service.
The Modern School celebrates the year 2008 as the Birth Centenary year of the Founders Shri Ramanbhai and Smt. Pushpaben Vakil. In December 2008 there will be Alumni Reunion and hence all the Modernites are requested to send their details for the Alumni Directory to be released during the function.

Shri Manubhai B. Mehta
- (7-3-1936 – 22.4.2008) The Founder member of Samskar Shikshan Sangh, Shri Manubhai Mehta was associated with the School right from its inception. A Trustee of the Sangh served the School wholeheartedly as a Vice-President from 2001 till his last breath. He contributed a great deal in modernizing the School and computerizing the accounts. His fond memories will ever be with the School and the Trust.

Shri H. N. Parekh
President – Samskar Shikshan Sangh
A graduate in commerce from the Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics, University of Bombay joined Hindustan Lever Ltd. in 1959. Along with his career, he pursued further studies and did post graduation in commerce from the same University. In Hindustan Lever Ltd. he headed the all India Management Payroll Department and was administrator of all India Management and Non-Management retirial fund of HLL.
Besides academics he is very much interested in sports particularly Table Tennis, cricket, badminton and billiards. He represented Sydenham College and Lever Sports Club in Table tennis tournaments. He took active part in dramatics and worked with noted gujarati artists like Vanlata Mehta, Pratap Oza and Lilaben Jariwala.
A Trustee of the Samskar Shikshan Sangh, he serves the Trust as a President from 2001 and devotes maximum time and actively involved in the Management of the Trust and The Modern School. |

A Chartered Engineer –graduate in Civil Engineering and post –graduate in Business Management, participated in several seminars in the field of Management. Founder Director of Indofab Structurals and Engineers (Bombay) Pvt. Ltd.
House of INDOFAB had executed many large industrial projects in India on Turn-key basis in the states of Mharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, U.P. , Bihar, West Bengal, Orissa etc.
And a winner of Dr. Ambedkar Award for social work among backward classes in Mumbai. |

Shri Dhimant H. Thakar
Associated with The Modern School right from the beginning as a student in 1936 and then as Executive Member of Samskar Shikshan Sangh from 1959. Appointed as a Trustee in the year 1960 and was elected as President from 1990 to 2001. As a student he had a very bright career and graduated from Jai Hind College, got post graduation degree in law from Govt. Law College. In his academic career he bagged many prizes and medals. Started his career as a solicitor in 1954 and drafted the constitution of the Trust, Samskar Shikshan Sangh in 1954. He is a leading and well known solicitor. Even today he is serving the institution with devotion and zeal and acts as a legal advisor to the Trust inspite his busy career as solicitor. |

Smt. Bhanumati P. Merchant
M.A.B.T. (Second Class) joined The Modern School as Asst. teacher in 1946 and served the School as teacher for 27 years. A teacher of Excellence, with her ability rose to the post of a Principal in 1973 till 1980. She was P.A. to the Founder Principal Shri Ramanbhai Vakil and was Hon. Secretary of SSS for many years. A Trustee with dedication and commitment still participates actively in all the functions. |

Shri Dilip J. Thakkar
An alumni of The Modern School Shri Dilip J.Thakkar is a practicing Chartered Accountant since 1961 besides being a graduate in commerce and law from the Bombay University.
He is a senior partner of M/s. Jayantilal Thakkar & Co. and M/s. Jayantilal Thakkar Associates-Mumbai.
He stood first in the whole of India at the final C.A. examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India – New Delhi, held in November 1960 and he was awarded the G.P.Kapadia Gold Medal and all the other prizes of the Western India Regional Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
Presently, Chairman of International Taxation Committee of the Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society. |

Dr. Meena P. Desai
Is a consulting Pediatrician for over 40 years with special interest in endocrine diseases in children. She pioneered establishment of this discipline (Pediatric Endocrinology) in India. Was head of the Dept. of Pediatric Medicine at the prestigious Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for children of Institute of Child Health and Research Centre till her retirement in 1992. During her tenure at this Institution she trained many postgraduates doing their doctorate in Pediatric Medicine. She continues to head the Dept. of Pediatrics at Sir H.N.Hospital and Research Centre and is also the Medical Director of Sir H.N.Medical Research Society. Has held many prestigious positions as the President and Chair Person of the Endocrine Society of India and the Pediatric Endocrinology branch, as well as one of the Founder and Council Members of the Asia Pacific Pediatric Endocrine Society. She continues her research activities and her clinical practice. |
